Today’s Book is Can’t Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds by David Goggins Summary of Book:ĭavid Goggins is a retired Navy Seal and the only member of the U.S Armed Forces ever to complete Seal Training, U.S. In light of this, on Monday’s I will be reviewing a book that has impacted me. That 1 or 2 hours I would have been sleeping are much better spent getting me healthy and energized and I am performing better at work and i’m still energized to spend time with the family when I’m home.Īlso, there’s nothing more badass feeling than being at the gym at 4am, before ANYONE is there.Outside of my mentors and defining moments, books have accelerated my learning both professionally and personally, and I truly believe that reading is the single most important thing you can do to better yourself. I fucking put in the hard work first thing in the morning now, and it energizes me for the rest of the day. So now, I get up two hours before work, and before the kids wake up. Just because I have responsibilities doesn’t mean its a pass to skimp on my responsibility to myself. Listening to David Goggins’ story made me realize that the situation will NEVER be perfect. I always played the victim and said I had no time to work out or eat well because I blamed my work schedule and my home responsibilities and lack of sleep. David goggins wake up time free#I’m an ER doctor, and i’m always jealous of my work colleagues who are single and have all this free time to work out. Will anyone else share their experiences? I will finally get promoted after years of being a lazy ass. Not only did I pass, I helped pace people during the running portion and I used to be the slowest guy in my unit. Last week I passed my physical fitness test easily. I still hate running but I do it because I hate it. I became hard on myself and took up running especially because I hated running the most. After listening to his audio book and watching a lot of videos about him, what really got me was his view on self talks. I hadn’t passed a fitness test in years due to injury and pure laziness. I had become lazy and was a stereotypical national guardsman (the whole stereotype where national guards are lazy and out of shape) and I had a quitting mentality. I absolutely hated running because it was too hard for me but once I had done it the weight kind of started melting off. It slowly started dropping as I dieted and exercised more. I was 250lbs in December of 2018 I’ve been around 195lbs since March or this year.
